Project Overview

Volunteer Nepal Travel mobilize national and international volunteers to support the conservation efforts of Nepalese in rural villages of Chitwan. We work in collaboration with Rural Community Development (RCDP) community based organizations and children clubs. Nepal is the landscape stunningly beautiful, amazingly diverse, contains lot of mountains forests, beautiful lakes and fertile land, thus attracting thousands of tourists every year. But due to lack of resources and awareness, Nepal is continuously losing its beauty as the natural resources have been used unexpectedly. The forests of Nepal are dwindling at an alarm rate. The main reason for this is reliance on firewood and lack of awareness about the importance of trees. Thus increase demand for trees is rapidly decreasing the natural forests and thus enhances the chances for floods, land sliding and other natural disasters. As a result the balance of ecosystem is hindered to a great level. In the last few years alone, thousands of hectares of land have vanished and the entire species of wildlife is being wiped out. To tackle the problem, many conservation programs currently being undertaken in Nepal by private non-governmental companies but they are unable to deal with and control the problem due to limited resources and limited funds. Therefore they need support from outside. VNT have started its project to make the people of Nepal aware of the issue. If you are interested to join our hands to improve the existing situation within Nepal, then you are warmly welcome by us.

The lifestyle of the Nepali is quite simple when compared to the lifestyle of the Western countries. Volunteer should not expect the luxurious accommodation. You will be provided same accommodation facilities prepared by family. The Nepali bathrooms have a sit on your heels toilet, a shower area and running cold water and in the bedroom, you may either sleep alone or with another volunteer on a woven mattress or an a hard mattress. If you stay in the hostfamily, you are supposed to do the household activities like cleaning the house, cooking food, taking care of children, taking care of elder people.
